Milo V. Schlesser, 90, of Struble, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars.

Milo V. Schlesser was born Nov. 14, 1914, on the family farm near Struble, the son of John and Julia (O'Hare) Schlesser. He grew up near Struble and attended country school for a few years and completed his education at St. Joseph's Parochial School in Le Mars. He served his country, during World War II with the U.S. Army in Europe, primarily in France and Germany.

Milo Schlesser married Marcella M. Rotering on Nov. 15, 1948 at Arcadia, Wis. The couple farmed their entire married lives in the Maurice and Struble area.

Milo was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Struble and a member of the American Legion, Heeren-McHale-Wilken Post #724 in Brunsville.

Survivors include his wife Marcella of Le Mars; three children, Tom and his wife Rose, and their sons Nicholas, Benjamin, and Christopher of Struble, David and his wife Lynn, and their sons Robert and Conner of Maurice, and Julia of Madison, S.D.; one brother, John "Jack" Schlesser of Struble; two sisters, Mrs. John (Kathleen) Mertes of Merrill, and Mrs. Lloyd (Mary) Vander Molen of Struble; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Julia; a daughter, Joyce; a sister Jean Raynor; and a brother Edwin.

The Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Struble, with the Rev. William McCarthy officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery with graveside military honors conducted by the American Legion, Heeren-McHale-Wilken Post #724 of Brunsville. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today (Friday) at St. Joseph's Church in Struble. There will be a parish rosary at 4 p.m. and the Scriptural wake service at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the church. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the Mass on Saturday at the church.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars.
