ESTEEMED AKRON WOMAN RECEIVES SUDDEN SUMMONS

Funeral Of Mrs. J.F. McVay On Friday—Many Relatives In Attendance

As stated in these columns last week, Mrs. J.F. McVay passed away at her home here Wednesday morning, July 18, 1951, after a brief and sudden illness, aged 40 years, 2 months and 2 days.

Myrtle Minnie Jordal was born May 16, 1911, near Herman, Minnesota, in Grant County, the daughter of John Henry Jordal and Minnie Steinberg Jordal. She graduated from high school at Buffalo Center, Iowa; took normal training in summer school, and taught for a year at Buffalo Center.

On June 12, 1931, she was married to J.F. McVay at Blue Earth, Minnesota. After their marriage they lived at Hudson, S.D.; at Westfield, Iowa, and, since 1944 in Akron.

She was confirmed in the Lutheran church, and later became a member of the Methodist church. Her church she served loyally and actively by teaching in the Sunday school and working in the Woman's Society and in the Utile Dulce Club. She served the community as a president of the Music Mothers' Club.

She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jordal; by her husband, and by the four children who were born to their union: Robert, who is in the U.S. Navy, stationed at San Diego, Calif.; James, Marlene and Mary, all at home. She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister, and is survived by two brothers, Howard and John, and by seven sisters, Pearl, Ruth, Ethel, Daisy, Emma, Joyce and Roselyn; also by many other relatives and a host of friends.

A kind and devoted wife and mother, a fine neighbor and valued friend, her untimely departure brings sincere sorrow to all.

Funeral services were held last Friday afternoon at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. H. Myron Braun. Hymns were sung by a male quartet—Karl Silkebakken, Arden Johnson, Boh Shoulberg and H.J. Behmer—with accompaniment by Mrs. Pearl Pollock. Interment was in Riverside cemetery.

Steinberg, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Steinberg, Mrs. Cy Waage, Mr. and Mrs. Art Steinberg, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Weaver, Jim Iverson, Mr. and Mrs. Lou Schaefer, of Buffalo Center, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Marion Steinberg, of Alden, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Mayne, of Armstrong, Iowa; Mrs. John Kramersmeier, of Ledyard, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Palmer Larson, of Hudson, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose McVay, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne McVay, of Beresford, S,D.; Mrs. Maybelle Giberson, of Berkeley, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ardis, Mae McVay, Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe McVay, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley McVay, Mrs. Glen McVay and Kathy, of Canton, S.D. Robert McVay, USN, San Diego, Calif.
