Head Strikes on Cement
Death Caused By Concussion Of The Brain

Bert George Miller, 36, son of Supervisor J. G. Miller and Mrs. J. G. Miller, died at his home in Johnson township Christmas morning from an internal hemorrhage, caused by concussion of the grain following an accident the night previous.
With other members of the family he had attended a Christmas eve program at the Plymouth Presbyterian church. After the family returned home and enjoyed an oyster supper and distribution of gifts Bert was going down to the basement to see the children of his brothers who were exhibiting their newly acquired play-things.
At the head of the stairs he slipped and fell the full length of the steps, striking the back of his head on the cement floor of the basement. He was rendered unconscious for some time but rallied and said he would be all right soon. He was assisted to bed and later lapsed into unconsciousness. Physicians summoned from Akron stated his death was caused by concussion of the brain.

Born In Johnson Township

Bert George Miller was born October 15, 1902, and resided on the farm with his parents all his life and helped in the work, being industrious, competent and dependable. He was baptized In St John’s Evangelical church in LeMars and later confirmed in the same church.
His untimely death is mourned by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Miller, three brothers, Abe, Eilert and George Miller, Johnson township, and a sister, Mrs. Art Gronemeyer of Washington township, and many other relatives. He was a prime favorite with his nephews and nieces.
He was ell and favorable known in the community as a good neighbor, a staunch friend, a tireless and faithful worker.
The funeral will be held from the home Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 and services will be conducted in the Plymouth Presbyterian church at 2 o'clock, Rev. R. R. Hunger of LeMars officiating.
