KARL WESSELS DIED TUESDAY
Funeral Services Will Be Held Friday Afternoon
Karl Wessels, well known Sioux county resident, passed away on Tuesday evening at the Hawarden hospital following a short sickness.
Karl Wessels, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harm Wessels, was born in Jever, Germany, April 18, 1890. On February 27, 1906, he together with his brother, Herman, left for the United States, making their home near LeMars. On Dec. 12, 1917, he was united in marriage to Miss Louise Beitelspacher. Their occupation was farming and they rented for 14 years in Grant township and 9 years in Sioux county. Here at his home near Ireton, the deceased took sick and after three days passed away in the Hawarden hospital on Tuesday evening at 10:30.
The departed was a devoted husband and father, a faithful member of Christ Lutheran church, a fine neighbor to all who knew him.
His sudden death is mourned by his wife and four children: Mrs. Frida Nyhof of Hawarden; his sons, Alfred, George, Herbert and Lorenz, which still live at home; by his brother, Herman in Sioux county; by his aged father in Germany.
Three children preceded their father in death. The departed reached an age of 50 years.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, at 2 p.m. in Grant township with F. Bunge officiating.
