John Buchholz
John Henry Buchholz, 87, who lived at 2936 N. 3rd St., Phoenix, Ariz., a former Le Mars area resident, died Sunday (Oct. 1, 1978) in the Phoenix veterans hospital. He was a World War I veteran.
Mr. Buchholz was born July 13, 1891, in Germany. His parents were John Frederich Buchholz and Katherine Renken Buchholz.
He came to America in July 1908 and to Grant township, Plymouth county to make his home with an uncle, John M. Renken. He worked on farms. His marriage to Marie Beitelspacher took place Dec. 16, 1920. They farmed in Grant township and then moved in 1924 to Minnesota where they farmed until 1941, moving to Arizona in 1957. He was a member of King of Kings Lutheran church, Phoenix.
Survivors are his wife, Marie; children, Herman H. of Phoenix; Leona F. of Breckenridge, Minn. Esther Nathe of Phoenix; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A niece lives in Germany and several cousins in Le Mars.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. at 10 a.m. at Green Acres mortuary chapel.
Attending services were Mrs. Anna Plueger, Le Mars, and Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Beitelspacher, Brunsville.
