Blanche Hasbrook Knapp
Blanche H. Knapp, 92, of Fortuna, Calif., died Dec. 22, 1992, in Fortuna. Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 26, at the Scotia Union church in Scotia Union church in Scotia, Calif., Rev. Bob Siekmann officiated. Funeral arrangements were under direction of Goble’s Chapel of Fortuna.
Mrs. Knapp, was born and raised in Le Mars, Iowa. She taught school for many years at Sunnyside high school in Plymouth County. She moved to California and Humboldt County in 1955 where she made her home in Scotia. She was employed by the PACIFIC lumber Co. for 31 years where she managed the Director’s Cottage until she retired in April 1986.
Mrs. Knapp enjoyed art and was at one time involved with teaching children how to paint at a small art school she ran out of her home. She was well known for some of her artwork and had received many awards. She loved to garden and make jams and jellies from the strawberries and raspberries she grew. Mrs. Knapp was a very loving and caring person who was always there when anyone needed her. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Survivors include a son, Randall Knapp and his wife, Mary, of Laguna Beach, Calif.; one daughter Shirley Raab of Vermillion, S.D.; two sisters, Mrs. Wallace Martin of Eureka, Calif., and Mrs. Opal Lafferty of Santa Rosa, Calif.; one brother, Owen Hasbrook of San Diego. She is also survived by nine frandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ward Roger Knapp, and by her son John Roger Knapp.
The family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Scotia Union church, P. O. Box 145 Scotia, Calif., 95565.

WESTFIELD, Iowa – Blanche Hasbrook Knapp, 92, of Fourtune, Calif., and formerly of Westfield, died Dec. 22, 1992
Mrs. Knapp was born and raised in the Le Mars’ vicinity and attended Iowa State University at Ames. S he was a teacher at the Sunnyside High School, Plymouth County and she and her husband, Ward farmed for many years in Plymouth County. In 1955, she moved to Humboldt County in Calif. Making her home in Scotia, where she managed the Directors Cottage of the PACIFIC lumber Co. for 31 years until her retirement in April 1986.
Mrs. Knapp was a past Worth Matron of the Order of Eastern Star and received the Diana Award for exceptional service to humanity. She was known for her musical and artistic talents and established a small art school at her home in Scotia.
Survivors include a son, Randall Knapp and his wife, Mary of Languana Beach, Calif.; a brother Owen Hasbrook of San Diego; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband; and a son, John Roger Knapp.
A memorial service was held in California. A memorial service may be held at a Westfield/Akron location at a later date.
A memorial has been established in her name with the Scotia Union Church, P.O. Box 145, Scotia, Calif. 95565.

Memorial services for Blanche H. Knapp, 92, of Fortuna, Calif., and formerly of Westfield, will be 9:30 a.m. April 10 at the Westfield United Church of Christ Congregational.
Mrs. Knapp died Dec. 22, 1992, in Fortuna.
All relatives and friends are welcome.
