DEATH COMES TO ESTEEMED SIOUX TOWNSHIP FARMER

Ward R. Knapp Victim Heart Attack Saturday; Rites Held Tuesday

Ward R. Knapp, lifetime resident of Sioux Township, this county died near his home there Saturday morning, December 7, 1946, at the age of 46 years. Death was instantaneous, due to a coronary thrombosis.

Mr. Knapp was born in Union county, South Dakota, near Jefferson, on November 2, 1900. He was the son of Noah R. and Lena Knapp. When he was two years old the family moved to Sioux township, Plymouth County, where he has since resided. He was a graduate of Sunnyside High school.

On December 7l 1921, he was united in marriage with Miss Blanche Hasbrooke, of LeMars, Iowa.

To this union were born three children, Jack, who, with his wife Shirlee lives in Sioux City, who is teaching at Hartlington, Nebr., and Randall home. Besides his wife and children, he is also survived by his father Noah R. Knapp, and one sister, Mrs. Harry Nelson, of Akron, to all of whom widespread sympathy is offered in their bereavement.

He and his father lived together on the home farm and worked together as partners in the farming operations.

He was preceded in death by his mother, who died in March, 1939.

Mr. Knapp was very active in all community affairs and will be greatly missed by his many friends and co-workers.

Funeral services were held in Akron Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Rossow Funeral Home and at 2:00 in the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. S.A. Howe. Paulbearers were Ed Nelson, Waldon Fry, C.V. McNaughton, Allie Banks, Arch Dreezen and Wallace Lilly. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.

Relatives from a distance in attendance at the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Carlberg and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Ericson, of Worthington, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Waddle of Garretson, S.D; Mr. and Mrs. Will Welch of LUVERNE, Minn., Mrs. Estelle Hasbrooke, of Rio Dell, Calif.; Mrs. Robert Lafferty, of Oakland, Calif.; Mrs. Wallace Martin of Eureka, Calif.; MR. AND Mrs. John Becker and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Becker, of LeMars; Mr. Vennard Sitzman, of Kingsley; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Knapp, of Cushing, Ia.
