Ruby W. Gries

Funeral services for Rudy W. Gries were held Wednesday, August 22, 1984, at 8:00 p.m. in the Kerns-Jamison Funeral Home in Maynard, Iowa, with the Rev. Margaret Strodtz officiating. Interment was in Kingsley Cemetery, Kingsley, Iowa at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, August 23.

Mr. Gries passed away Monday, August 20, 1984, at Strawberry Point Lutheran Home in Strawberry Point, Iowa.

Rudy W. Gries was born August 5, 1921, at Holstein, Iowa, to Julius and Bertha Jetter Gries. He married Vivian Hubbell on January 22, 1975 at Maynard, Iowa. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He farmed in the Holstein and Kingsley area for many years.

Survivors include his wife; one stepson, Kent Hubbell of Saint Charles, Mo.; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Gary (Maureen) Long of Omaha, Nebr., Mrs. Don (Valrie) Schuster of Waterloo, Iowa, Mrs. Jerry (Janiece) Christensen of Las Vegas, Nev., and Miss Connie Carter of Omaha, Neb.; two brothers, Harry Gries of Kingsley, Lee Gries of Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister, Mrs. Luella Wilson of Duncombe, Iowa; and seven step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Ernest. A memorial fund has been established to the American Cancer Society, Iowa Division: Fayette County.
