SUFFERED MANY YEARS MRS. CECIL MC GRUDER SUCCUMBS TO LONG ILLNESS
LIVED HERE SINCE CHILDHOODDeceased Was a Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Pinney, who were Homesteaders in the Early Seventies— Leaves a Husband and Son.
Mrs. McGruder, wife of Cecil McGruder, of Union township, died at her home at three o'clock on Sunday morning after long suffering from cancers. She had been in ill health for the past two years and had undergone two operations for relief but without any lasting benefit. For the past ten weeks, she had been confined to her bed and the end came as a relief. Mrs. McGruder realized that she was beyond human aid and was patient and resigned to the inevitable a long time before the advent of the angel of death. Mrs. McGruder had lived nearly all her life In Plymouth county and was well known in a large circle of friends and neighbors.
Her maiden name was Cora M. Pinney and she was born in Whiteside County, Illinois on July 22, 1869. When she was two years old her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Pinney, came to LeMars and shortly afterward homesteaded on a piece of land near Seney. They later bought land in Union township, where Cora attended school and grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage on December 9, 1898, to Cecil McGruder and they made their home on a farm in Union township and lived there since. Two children were born to them, Lloyd and Leila. Leila died five years ago. Besides the bereaved husband and son, she leaves to mourn her death, her aged father, John Pinney, in Holtville, Cal., three brothers and a sister who are: Fred Pinney, El Centro, Cal., Frank Pinney, Holtville, Cal., Geo. Pinney, Armour, S. D and Mrs. C. C. Laddusaw, of Brookings, S.D.
A brief service will be held at the home today at half-past twelve and services will be held at the First Presbyterian church in this city at half-past two. Rev Frank Schroeder of Union Presbyterian church officiating,
