JOHN KROGER, LONG TIME RESIDENT BURIED HERE WED.

Funeral services for John A. Kroger, 79, a longtime resident of the Kingsley community, who died Sunday, November 30 were held at 2 p. m Wednesday at the Church of the Brethren here. Rev Berwyn Oltman officiated and burial was made in the Kingsley Cemetery under the direction of the Dickison Funeral Home. Marlin Robinson and Emil Schultzen of Moville, Albert Kurtz, Ivan Clark, Bud Daniels and Oscar Seller were pallbearers. Two hymns, "Rock of Ages" and "Heaven Is My Home " were sung by Mrs. Melvin Monke and Mrs. Laverne Kurtz. Mrs. Walter Karlson was the organist.

Obituary

John A. Kroger was born on July 23, 1879, in Hamburg, Germany. He came to the United States in April of 1882, at the age of three years. He lived in Westford until he was I8 years old, then he went to Colorado, where he homesteaded for five years. In 1903 he moved to the Kingsley community.

He passed away on November 30, 1958, in an Iowa City hospital after an illness of three months. He was 79 years old at the time of his death.

Mr. Kroger is survived by a sister, Jennie Stephenson of Remsen, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Marcus, and two sisters, Mrs. Charles Bock (Minnie) and Mrs. Charles Hansman (Anna).
