A WELL-KNOWN LOCAL RESIDENT DIES ON JULY 6
Rites Are Held Here Friday Morning for Frank M. Blum
A widely-known and esteemed resident of western Plymouth County. Frank Blum, answered the final summons Wednesday, July 6, at a Sioux City hospital, after a two months' illness, aged 88 years, 4 months and 28 days.
Frank M. Blum was born February 8, 1878, at Sublette, Illinois, and came to western Plymouth county in youth with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Blum who farmed east of Akron for many years. He was a barber by trade but engaged in farming in this vicinity for a number of years. While in the barber business at Fremont, Nebr., he married Jennie Marr on January 19, 1909, and a daughter and three sons came to bless their union. She preceded him in death August 20, 1923. Also preceding him in death were his parents; four brothers, Peter, George, Barnard and Jacob, and two sisters, Mrs. Herman Hitzemann and Mrs. Adam Waldschmidt.
Mr. Blum was held in high respect for his fine and friendly personality.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Clarence Anderson, of Paynesville, Minn.; three sons, Francis, of Westfield; Peter, of Bay City, Tex., and Joseph, of Nogales, Ariz.; a brother, Edmund, of Akron; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday morning in St. Patrick's Catholic church, Rev. Fr. John Schissel officiating. Casket bearers were Leo Henrich, John Henrich, Ambrose Feauto, Basil Blum, Edwin Blum and Gilbert Blum. Interment was beside his wife in the Catholic cemetery at Fremont, Nebr.
