Eilert Dirks

Eilert Eden Dirks, 83, died at his home at 301 Second Ave. N. W. Monday, Feb. 7, after a two weeks' sickness.

Mr. Dirks was born in Germany Nov. 13, 1871, and came to this country at the age of 17 years. He resided in Plymouth county all of his life, with the exception of a year in Nebraska and two years in Oklahoma. Mr. Dirks' trade was that of a carpenter. He was retired.

Dec. 5. 1895, at Christ Lutheran church, he was married to Engeline Marie Frerichs, who died January 10. 1955.

Funeral services were held today, Thursday, Feb. 10 at 1:30 p. m., at the home and at 2 p. m. in Christ Lutheran church in Grant township. Rev. E. Fruchling and Rev. F. O. Bunge officiated.

Survivors include two sons, John of Lo Mars, and Martin of Sioux City; four daughters, Mrs. L. H. (Carrie) Bruns; Mrs. John (Lena) Hartmann, Mrs. Clarence (Emma) Collman, and Mrs. Joe (Edna) Hardacre, all of Le Mars. Other survivors include 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, John of Akron and Edo of Coleridge, Nebraska; one sister, Mrs. Fred Frerichs of Coleridge, Neb; a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

His wife, one son, one daughter, his parents and (our brothers preceded Mr. Dirks in death.

Pallbearers included John and Martin Dirks, L. H. Bruns, John Hartmann, Clarence Collman and Joe Hardacre, sons and sons-in-law of the deceased.
