Hold Wm. Utech Rites Saturday
Funeral services for William Utech, 79, who died Thursday, Nov. 29, at Sacred Heart Hospital after a year's illness, were held Saturday, Oct. 31, at 2 p.m. at the First Methodist church. Rev. H. V. Bartz officiated and burial was in the city cemetery. Mauer's funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Utech, a retired farmer, was born Nov. 29, 1873, near Bloomington, Iowa. He lived in Plymouth county 65 years and farmed near Lakefield, Minn., six years. He retired to Worthington, Minn., in 1944 where he lived until moving back to Le Mars in May 1951.
His marriage to Mary Piepenburg, who survives, took place Dec. 31, 1896 at Wausau, Wis. Surviving are eight children: Edward of Orange City, Mrs. John (Lillian) Pech of Brandon, S. D., Frank of Heron Lake, Minn., Lawrence of Edgar, Wis., Mrs. Edward (Mamie) Pech, Raymond, Mrs. Henry (Margaret) loos and Wesley all of Le Mars. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Chris and Fred Utech both of Le Mars
He was preceded in death by a son, Elmer Laurence, who died Sept. 21, 1910, his parents, 10 brothers and a sister.
Mr. Utech was a lifelong member of the Seney Methodist church, Le Mars after returning to make his home here. Pallbearers were five sons and a nephew
