Ethel Rose Shedd, 77, of Hawkeye, Howa, formerly of Akron, died Tuesday, May 11, 1999, at the Good Samaritan Home in West Union, Iowa, following a lengthy illness.
Services were held Friday, May 14, 1999, at Hill Crest Baptist and Brethren Church in Fredericksburg, Iowa. Burial was held Saturday, May 15, 1999, in Riverside Cemetery, Akron. Becker-Milnes Funeral Home, Hawkeye, was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Shedd was born June 6, 1921, in Hawarden, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Gertrude Ham Bryson.
She received her education at the Hawarden Schools and graduated from Hawarden High School.
On January 15, 1942, she married Arnold Shedd in Hawarden. The couple farmed in the Akron area until they moved to the Hawkeye area where they lived for many years. Mr. Shedd died March 31, 1993.
She was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist and Brethren Church in Fredericksburg.
Survivors include two sons, Daniel of Dixon, Illinois and Rick of Maynard; one daughter, Roxanne Shappell and her husband, Don of Cresco; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Francis; one daughter, Ethel Lynn Begalske; one son—in-law, Milan Begalske; one half-sister, Mabel; and one-half brother Coy.
