Arnold Shedd
Arnold Shedd, 73, Fredericksburg, Iowa, formerly of Akron, died March 31, 1993, at Sunrise Guest Home in Fredericksburg of lengthy illness.
Services were held Saturday, April 3, 1993, at the Hillcrest Baptist and Brethren church in Fredericks-burg. Pastor David Byrd officiated. Burial was held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 5 at Riverside Cemetery in Akron, under direction of the Becker-Milnes Funeral service of Fredericksburg.
Mr. Shedd was born April 26, 1919 at rural Akron, Iowa, to Lee and Estalene Rhodes Shedd. He received his education in the rural schools at Akron.
He married Ethel Byrons Jan. 15, 1942, in Hawarden. Following their marriage the couple farmed in the Akron area until they moved to Alpha in 1963. In 1966 they moved to Alpha in 1963. In 1966 they moved to the Hawkeye area where Arnold continued to farm and do custom combining until his retirement in 1972. He enjoyed shop work and continued to work in his shop until one year ago.
He was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist and Brethren church in Fredericksburg, and was also a member of the Hawkeye Conversation club.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel of Fredericksburg; two sons, Daniel and Rick, both of Maynard; one daughter, Roxanne Shappell of Cresco; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Elton Shedd of Elk Point, S.D., and a good friend, Tony Pieper of Hawkeye.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son Francis; one daughter, Ethel Lynn Begalske; and one son-in-law, Milan Begalske.
