Le Mars

Ryan A. Richardson, 33, passed away Sunday evening, August 12, 2012, at his home in Le Mars, Iowa.

A Prayer service with memory sharing will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars. Reverend John Battern of the United Methodist Church in Le Mars will officiate. Additional services will be on Thursday, August 23, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at University Methodist Church in Peoria, Illinois. Visitation with the family present will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Ryan Allen Richardson was born on October 27, 1978 in Peoria, Illinois, to Randall Richardson and Linda (Barker) Richardson. Ryan was raised in Peoria, IL where he graduated from high school. Ryan graduated with a degree in history from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois in 2004, and went on to obtain a law degree from Drake Law School in Des Moines, Iowa in 2007. Ryan practiced law at Trotzig and Bauerly, P.L.C. in Le Mars, Iowa, and was involved in several community activities.

He was president of the Plymouth County Bar Association, president of Sertoma, and was a founding board member and secretary of the Helping Young Professionals Energize the Region (HYPER) organization. Ryan was the incoming Le Mars Chamber of Commerce President, a board member of the Le Mars Business Initiative Corporation (LBIC) and a member of the Iowa State Bar Association.

In his spare time, Ryan played on a softball league, golfing league, performed with the community theater, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Surviving is his mother, Linda Richardson, of Metamora, Illinois; his father, Randall Richardson (Sue) of Morton, Illinois; his sister, Renee Richardson, of Chicago, Illinois. Also surviving are his grandmothers: Carlene Barker and Louise Richardson; his uncles: Kevin Barker, Jon Richardson, Daniel Richardson, and Jeff Richardson.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers: Roland Barker and Jerry Richardson. ~ The Des Moines (IA) Register Thurs 16 Aug 2012.
