Elizabeth Hassett

Elizabeth P. Hassett, 59, 28000 Dodge Ave., died Saturday in a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.

Services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday in W. Harry Christy Funeral Home, 1801 Morningside Ave. The Rev. Verle R. Bales will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hassett, the former Elizabeth Hoffman, was born Sept. 9, 1922, in Westfield. She came to Sioux City as a child and graduated from East High School in 1941. She married James J. Hassett May 7,, 1954, in Sioux City. She worked at the Sioux City Battery Co. until it closed and then worked for 20 years at Metz Bakery, retiring in June 1981 because of ill health. She is a former member of Greenville Evangelical Free Church.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Gary J. Franken of Sioux City; one daughter, Mrs. James (Sandra) Sorensen of Omaha, Neb.; one stepson, James Hassett Jr. of Albany, N.Y.; two brothers, Harold of Cunningham, Kan., and Jack of Sioux City; two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Wickey and Mrs. William (ila) Gude, both of Sioux City and seven grandchildren.
