AKRON, Iowa—Kenneth L. Blake, 75, of Akron died Tuesday at his home after a long illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First Church of Christ in Akron with burial in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 8 p.m., at the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Kenneth Louis Blake

Kenneth Louis Blake, 75, of Akron, died Tuesday, April 18, 1995, at his home.

Services were held Thursday, April 20, 1995 at First Church of Christ, Akron, with the Rev. Randy Brooks officiating. Music was “Amazing Grace” and “In The Garden” sung by the congregation, accompanied by Mike Rosenbaum on the organ. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Akron under direction of Schroeder Funeral Home.

Casket bearers were Ed Searls, Kevin Lewison, Ben Plooster, Alan Huygens, Richard Schierling and Darcy Fletcher.

Mr. Blake was born January 16, 1920, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Hazel (Barrington) and Dan Blake, Sr. He married Helen F. Determann July 16,, 1942, in South Sioux City, Nebraska. He served in WW II in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska with the Medical Corps in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Carool and Robert Pies, Akron, and Beth and Ed Terpetra, Westfield; three sons and their wives, Arden and Pam, Akron, Wayne and Eugina, Sioux Falls, S.D., and ISCS (SW) Mike and Carol, Fallon, Nev.; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Brunemier, Nevada, Iowa, Lavonne Thompson, Wayne, Nev., and Lucille Clark, Salem, Ore.; and one brother, Dan Blake, Akron.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a sister, Cora Emerech; and a brother, Orin Blake.
