LE MARS, Iowa - Josephine "Jos" Holzman, 97, of Le Mars died Monday, May 3, 1999, at her residence.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. Jerome Cosgrove officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Le Mars. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a Christian Mothers rosary at 4 p.m., a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m. and a Catholic Daughters of America rosary at 7:30 p.m., at Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Mrs. Holzman was born April 7, 1902, in Le Mars, the daughter of Hubert and Margaret (Meis) Kemp. She attended St. Joseph's Catholic School in Le Mars.

She married Frank Holzman on Jan. 23, 1924. The couple farmed in Stanton Township until retiring and moved into Le Mars. He died in 1984.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers Society, Catholic Daughters of America and Catholic Ladies Club.

Survivors include four daughters, Joanne and her husband, Leonard Anthony, of Le Mars, Elaine and her husband, Bill Pew, of San Marcos, Calif., Edna Holzman and her friend, Dick Graham, of Omaha, Neb., and Betty and her husband, Roger Curry of Saratoga, Calif.; five sons, Gordon and his wife, Marian, of Alton, Iowa, Clayton and his wife, Lois, of Le Mars, Roger of Houston, Texas, Marvin and his wife, Shari, of La Habra, Calif., and Leon and his wife, Nanci, of Le Mars; 34 grandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Leona and her husband, Ben Ruhland, of Le Mars and Irene Phillips of Remsen, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marian Gotto; a son, Stanley; a son-in-law, Irvin Gotto; three sisters, Angie Koopman, Frances Kellen and Celeste Scharrer; three brothers, Joe and Al Kemp and Lawrence in infancy; and a grandson, James Holzman.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
