LE MARS, Iowa - Harold Edward Lang, 86, of Le Mars died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997, at his residence.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Hinton, Iowa, with the Rev. Dr. Michael Boykin officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars.
Mr. Lang was born Feb. 20, 1911, in Stanton Township, Plymouth County, Iowa, the son of Christian F. and Ida (Heimgartner) Lang. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
He married Louise Schoenrock on May 29, 1935, in rural Hinton. The couple farmed in Stanton Township until retiring in 1980, when they moved to Le Mars. She died Jan. 16, 1997.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Neva and Noel Fries of Raleigh, N.C.; three sons, Kendall and David of Le Mars and Daniel and Sue of Merrill, Iowa; and four grandchildren, Nancy Martis, Nicki Fries, Natalie Archambault and Noel Fries; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Lydia Ladenthin of Le Mars; and a brother and his wife, Don and Lois Lang of Hinton.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Eldon; and two sisters, Alvina DeRaad and Laura Lang in infancy.
Pallbearers will be Doug, Curtis and Phil Schoenrock, Tim and Cliff Lang and Warren Lahrs.
