AUGUST MUECKE CALLED BY DEATH
Came to This County At Age of 18- Funeral Tuesday, P.M.
August Muecke, a pioneer settler of this county for 61 years, died at his home at 321- Second avenue N. W., Saturday afternoon, at the advanced age of 79 years, 5 months and 29 days. Mr. Muecke had been troubled with sickness for several years. Several years ago he suffered injuries when he fell from the roof of his home while repairing a chimney, breaking a leg. He spent many weeks in the hospital and when able to leave, he was forced to walk with the aid of crutches.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the home and at 2 p. m. from the Lincoln township Lutheran church, Rev. J. R. Torgler officiating. Burial Will be made in the Lincoln township Lutheran cemetery, Beely's funeral directors in charge .
Mr. Muecke was born in Germany on November 8, 1852, and came to this country when he was 18 years of age. He received his early education in his native land, and upon arriving here took up farming. On December 10, 1879, he was united in marriage and took up farming in Lincoln township. Four sons were born to this union, who with the devoted wife and an adopted daughter mourn his loss. The children are: F. H., John and Albert Muecke, of near Hinton and Emil Muecke of Sioux Falls and Mrs. Karl Stabe, of Hinton. He also leaves two brothers and a sister, Julius and William Muecke, of Hinton and Mrs. Pauline Jauer of this city. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death. Fourteen grandchildren also survive.
Mr. and Mrs. Muecke observed their 52nd wedding anniversary last December.
Deceased was a good member of the Lutheran church, a loving husband and father. He was one of the early pioneers who braved the hardships in helping to build this community His many friends. extend their sympathy to the wife and family and mourn the loss of a well known citizen.
