John Muecke rites Friday

Funeral services for John Julius Muecke, 84, lifelong Lincoln township resident, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran church in Lincoln township near Hinton. Rev. David Oswald will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery under direction of the Mauer funeral home in Le Mars. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Muecke died Tuesday at Floyd Valley hospital after having been hospitalized briefly. He had made his home in Leeds since retiring in 1944. He was taken to the Brentwood home in Le Mars in March, 1966.

He was born Nov. 22, 1882, in Lincoln township where he lived and farmed until his retirement. Minnie Speckman and Mr. Muecke were married Jan. 6, 1907, at Joliet, 111. His parents were the late August and Marie (Ahrendt) Muecke.

Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Orville (Ruth) Gibbens of Ponca, Neb., Mrs. Ernest (Esther) Wiener of Hinton and Mrs. Eldon (Mildred) Lang of Le Mars; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and a brother, Emil Muecke, Sioux Falls. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1954 and by two brothers. Mr. Muecke was a member of Trinity Lutheran church, Lincoln township.
