First was Mrs. Jurgensen obituary.
Mrs. Aug. Jurgensen passed last Friday, October 28, 1932, a 12:30 p.m., at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Russell Clark, southeast of town after an illness of about four weeks of ailments incident to advanced years, at the age of 80 years, 2 months, ad 4 days. She was given the most tender care in her daughter’s home during her last illness.
Ida Maria Jensen was born September 24, 1852, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, where she was also baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church. On November 16, 1876, she was united in holy wedlock with August Jurgensen. This union was blessed with eight children—six sons and two daughters. In 1883 she came to America to join her husband, who had located in Elk Point, S.D., the year previous to make a home in this country. After a brief residence there they moved to the vicinity of Akron, Ia., and have made their home here ever since, with the exception of one year they lived at Wolsey, S.D.
Mrs. Jurgensen was a kind and devoted wife and mother, a helpful neighbor and valued friend, who will be missed and mourned by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by two sons and her husband.
There are left to mourn her departure four sons and two daughters-Henry Jurgenson, Mrs. Anna Fredricksen, Chas. Jurgensen, Wm. Jurgensen, Andrew Jurgensen and Mrs. Minnie Clark, all of Akron vicinity, also twenty-seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, at 2 o’clock at the Clark home and at 2:30 o’clock at Trinity Lutheran Church, conducted by Rev. F. A. Meske. Six of her grandsons acted as pallbeares, as follows: Arval Jurgensen, Elvin Jurgensen, Lloyd Clark, Carroll Fredricksen and Luvern Fredricksen. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.
