Harm H. Kruse, Retired Grant Farmer, Dies

Funeral services for Harm Harms Kruse, 78, who died unexpectedly at his home in LeMars Wednesday, will be held Sunday, Jan. 7, beginning at the home at 1:30 p. m., followed by rites at St. John's Lutheran church in Preston township at p. m. The Rev. E. J. Beckmann will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mauers funeral home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Kruse was born Oct. 27, 1872, at Ackley, Iowa. He was the fifth of nine children born to Harm and Antje Schmidt Kruse. In early infancy he was baptized into the Lutheran faith. In the spring of 1889 when he was 12, his parents left their farming interest and located on a farm in Plymouth county in Grant township.

Feb. 23, 1900 he married Anna Nannen at St. John's Lutheran church, with Rev. Theodore Meyer officiating. They had nine children, one of whom died in infancy. It was a happy occasion when this couple observed their 50th wedding anniversary last year.

The young couple continued farming and took residence on a farm in Grant township. They occupied the same farm for 42 years, until retirement to LeMars in 1942. Harm Kruse was an industrious and successful farmer. He was a faithful member of the Lutheran church until his death. He was blessed with good health throughout his life until the last six months, when he was stricken with a heart ailment.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Anna Kruse; his children: John, Louis, Herman, William, George of LeMars; Mrs. Elmer Schube, Peotone, Ill.; Elmer, and Mrs. Kenneth Schulz both of LeMars and their families; one brother, Dick Kruse, LeMars; four sisters, Mrs. George Popken, Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Herman Frerichs, LeMars; Mrs. Tena Nannen, Sioux City, and Mrs. Clara Popken, LeMars; eleven grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
