Note: Her maiden name is Seaman as mentioned in one of her children's obituary. Her husband James and two of her daughter who died quite young are buried in the Riverside Cemetery. Her gravestone lists 1882 as the year of her birth.

Sophia Buckingham

Services for Sophia E. Buckingham, 84, who died at a local hospital yesterday, will be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow in Hayward.

She was the widow of James Buckingham; mother of Clifford J. Buckingham of Menlo Park, Albert W. Buckingham of Iowa, and Mrs. Helen L. Powell of Hayward; grandmother of seven; and sister of Mrs. Lena Johnson of Hayward, Mrs. Lillian Oaks of Washington, and Mrs. Mae Hyslip of Oregon.

She was native of Iowa, spent 10 years in Hayward, and lived most recently at 2256 Duan Road, Hayward.

The Rev. Robert DeWolf of the First Methodist Church of Hayward will officiate at the services at Sorensen Brothers Mortuary, 1140 B. St., Hayward.

Burial will be at Alta Mesa Memorial Park, Palo Alto.
