Mrs. M. Peters Dies at Age 80

Funeral Services Held in Hawarden Friday of Last Week for Woman Who Died in Denver, Colorado

Funeral services for Mrs. Mathilda Peters, 80, who died in Denver, Colo., Tuesday of last week, were held at 1:30 last Friday at the Ross Funeral Home and at the Trinity Lutheran Church at 2 o’clock.

Rev. H. W. Krieger of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church was in charge of the service. Three granddaughters, Evelyn, Lillian and Iva Peters of Hawarden, sang two hymns. Burial was in the Akron cemetery.

Mathilda Witt was born July 9, 1868, in Germany. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church. She came to America when 17 and married John Peters in 1886.

Following her marriage she lived on a farm near Le Mars. Later they homesteaded west of the White River in South Dakota where she lived until the death of her husband in 1929. Later she lived with her daughter, Mrs. Rose Powers at Denver, Colo.

Survivors are three children, Charles Peters of Hawarden, John Peters of Clarkston, Wash., and Mrs. Rose Powers of Denver, Colo.; 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Her husband and two daughters preceded her in death.
