Nonagenarian Is Taken By Death
Jacob Shuck, 94, one of the oldest residents of Hawarden died at his home; there last Thursday from pneumonia.
Mr. Shuck was born in Scott county, Iowa, in June, 1845. Mr. and Mrs. Shuck celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary last October 1. Mr. Shuck was a familiar figure on the streets of Hawarden until a couple of years ago. The last two years he has been confined to his home most of the time. He and his wife had been residents of this vicinity for 64 years, living in Alcester, S. D., until 21 years ago, when they purchased a home in Hawarden.
Surviving are his wife and seven children: Mrs. Mary Payne, Hawarden; George Shuck, Wendell, Minn.; J. B. Shuck, Alcester, S. D.; Charles Shuck, Akron; Mrs. G. W. Fickbohm, Big Springs, S. D.; Harry Shuck, Westfield, and Carl Shuck, Hawarden.
