Note: The first obituary probably coincides closer with the birth on the Iowa Death Record. The second obituary says he was born in Canada which is probably incorrect since a census record says he was born in Ireland with the family coming to Canada in 1848. His wife's maiden name is Lamb. He is probably buried in the Catholic cemetery in Le Mars, Iowa.

Death of a Pioneer

James Redmond, father of Thomas and Michael, of this city, died Tuesday evening at his farm home near Le Mars. He had previously suffered a slight stroke of paralysis. Mr. Redmond was about seventy-two years of age and was an early settler in Plymouth County, having resided here something like forty years, coming from Dubuque, Iowa.

Besides the sons above mentioned, two daughters, Anna and Mary, and two sons, James and Maurice, live on the home farm.

Deceased was widely known in the central part of the county and highly esteemed for upright character and largeness of heart. His good wife passed to her reward a few years ago.

The surviving children have much sympathy in their bereavement.
