Lawrence W. Gibbons Was Lifelong Resident Of This Vicinity
Lawrence W. Gibbons, a long-time resident of Westfield and Akron vicinities, died Friday, September 27, 1957, in the Akron Hospital, where he had been a patient for several weeks at the age of 65 years, 4 months and 19 days.
Lawrence Gibbons was born May 8, 1892, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Gibbons, early day residents of Akron vicinity. He spent practically all his life in this locality, engaging as an automobile mechanic in Akron. He had resided in Westfield since his retirement about four years ago. A highly esteemed citizen, he will be missed by his many friends and acquaintances. To the bereaved families the entire community extends sincerest sympathy.
Survivors are the widow, Elizabeth; two daughters, Mrs. Alfred Hawks of Westfield and Ms. Everald Paskert, of Remsen; a son, Raymond of Sioux City; a sister, Mrs. Charles Burnight, of Sioux City, and nine grandchildren. One son preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Monday morning, September 30, in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Akron, Rev. Fr. J. C. Skahill officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery here. Pallbearers were Earl Michael, Frank Dennison, Earl Gale, Jack Henrich, Wayne Snyder, and Edmond Blum.
