CLOUD OF SORROW OVER LARSON HOME
DeElda Ellemetta Larson, the little daughter of Martin and Anna Larson born December 26, 1911, died Monday evening June 5th, 1916, age 4 years 5 months and ten days. About a month ago she was very sick with a cold and fever and never quite recovered from that attack although she layed around the home as usual.
Less than a week ago she awoke one morning with fever and soon complications set in and one thing after another set in until finally on Sunday she was taken with a violent attack of diphtheria and on Monday evening about nine o’clock being no longer able to keep up the fight she passed into the arms of Jesus. “Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.” “And Jesus took them up in his arms and put his hand upon them and blessed them.”
“There is no flock, however watched and tended,
But one dead lamb is there:
There is no fireside, howe’er defended But has one vacant chair.
“The air is full of farewells for the dying
And mournings for the dead,
The heart of Rachel, for the children crying.
Will not be comfortedBecause of the quarantine placed on the home, neighbors and friends would have gladly rendered all assistance that loving hands could were prevented from entering the home, but many beautiful flowers were taken to the cemetery and the grave was banked with these beautiful tributes of love and sympathy.
Little DeElda’s name has always been on the Sunday school roll of the Methodist church having been placed on the cradle roll when but an infant and during the last year she was one of the beautiful little “Sunbeams” in the primary class taught by Mabel Heifner and never missed except in case of sickness.
“The Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” A short and simple service was held at the grave by Rev. LaGrone, Pastor of the family
Mr. and Mrs. Larson wish to express their grateful thanks to all their neighbors and friends for their sympathy and help in this hour of darkness and trial
