Mrs. Larson Buried Here Saturday

Former Kingsley Resident Died In Sioux City

Funeral services were held last Saturday afternoon from the Methodist Church for Mrs. Martin Larson who died Wednesday afternoon at her home at 1117 Cornelia Street Sioux City. Mrs. Larson was a former Kingsley resident where her husband was for many years manager of the Trans-Mississippi Elevator.

Annie Richardson Larson was born December 22nd, 1872 at Veta Grand Junction, Davis County, Illinois and passed away at 12 o’clock Noon on February 11th 1931. She was the oldest daughter of Mary and William Richardson. The family moved from Illinois to Wisconsin, where they resided for a short time, then coming to Kingsley, Iowa where they resided on a farm for many years.

She was united in marriage to Martin Larson on March 6th, 1894. They were engaged in faming near Kingsley for eleven years and then moved to the town of Kingsley. In the year 1920 they moved to Morningside Sioux City, Iowa, where she resided until her death.

Their union was blessed with three children. Mabel now Mrs. M. M. Griepenburg of Remsen, Iowa Hazel, now Mrs. Waldo Reynolds of Sioux City, Iowa, and DeElda who passed away in 1916. The loss of this daughter at the tender age of only four and one-half years left a grief and longing which time never healed.

Besides her husband and daughters she leaves two sisters, Mrs. Ella May of Remsen, Iowa; and Mrs. Minnie Antrim of Martin S. D. and two granddaughters, DeElda and Pearl Griepenburg.

Mrs. Larson was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Kingsley. During her many years as an invalid which made church attendance impossible she received much comfort from radio sermons and other religious services, her favorite being “Sunday Evenings at Seth Parker’s.

Her comforting song was “Jesus Is My Neighbor” and shortly before her death she made a special request that this be sung at her funeral service.

Mrs. Larson was a helpless invalid for many years during which time she endured untold suffering. She received tender and loving care from her husband and daughters and from a host of friends who were always ready to comfort and assist her.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Kingsley Saturday afternoon and interment made in the Kingsley Cemetery.

Pall bearers were Dr. E. Gisel, Walter Harsh, Martin Peterson, Herman Toothman, William Champeny, and David Blair.
