Glenn Nicholson Taken By Death
Well Known LeMars Youth Succumbs
Glenn Nicholas, 27, died Thursday night at his home, 424 First avenue NE. Mr. Nicholson had been in poor health for a long time although able to be up and around until a short time before his death,
Eight years ago he suffered a tumor on the brain and underwent an operation at the hands of an eminent surgeon at the Mayo, clinic in Rochester, Minn. Medical experts at the time expressed the opinion that his complete recovery was problematical. In the succeeding years he appeared in apparently good health and assisted his father, Ben Nicholson in the garage and automobile business. After two months ago he was obliged to desist from active (can’t read) rapidly and he suffered greatly.
Glenn Willard Nicholson was born in LeMars, January 31, 1912, and attended the LeMars schools, graduating with the high school class of 1931.
Since that time he was employed with the Nicholson Motor company.
He leaves to mourn his early death his mother, Mrs. Fern Nicholson, his father, Ben Nicholson, and one sister, Miss Ellen Nicholson, his grandmothers, Mrs. J. B. Nicholson and Mrs. P. E. Mann, and many other relatives living in Plymouth county.
Glenn Nicholson possessed a disposition that gained him many friends and he was a popular youth in the younger circle of the community and many friends regret his passing more especially at the time when life looks brightest to youth.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon, at the Mauer funeral chapel and was largely attended. Rev. L. L. Belk of St. John's Lutheran church, conducted the services and interment was made in the city cemetery. Associates of the young man carried the body of their friend to its resting place: Homer Culley, Webb DePree, Chris Hirsch, Howard Fickey, Denis Lenihan and Donald Ogilvie. The altar in the chapel and the grave were heaped with beautiful flowers, tributes to his memory.
Among out of town relatives and friends attending the funeral were Mrs. Felix Berner, Miss Ruth Burg and Mrs. Ruth Burg of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. W. L. Kersey, Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher Cooper, Sioux City; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Chapell, Storm Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Roy North, Denison and James Koenig of Ames
