Note: Was a little uncertain of the spelling of her maiden name since other obituaries and other family sources have it spelled different ways.

MRS. LYDIA VARENHORST EXPIRES AT REMENSEN AFTER LONG ILLNESS

Funeral services for Mrs. Henry N. (Lydia) Varenhorst, 82, were at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. John American Lutheran church in Le Mars. Burial was in Le Mars Memorial Cemetery under the direction of the Mauer Funeral Home. A prayer memorial service was conducted Monday evening in the funeral home.

Mrs. Varenhorst died Saturday morning at a nursing home in Remsen. She had been ill for several years. She was born April 3, 1884, in Petersburg, Ill., and came to Plymouth County when she was four years old.

Her marriage to Henry N. Varenhorst took place March 1, 1905, in Johnson Township. Her parents were the late Rudolph and Theresa (Scheaffer) Varenhorst.

She is survived by one son, Donald W. of Le Mars.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1943 and a sister.

Mrs. Varenhorst was a member of St. John American Lutheran church.
