Edward Utesch Sr.
Edward Paul Utesch Sr., 72, Le Mars area native and lifelong resident, died Tuesday (Oct. 9, 1979) at Floyd Valley hospital after an extended illness. He had resided at Brentwood Good Samaritan home the last three years
He was born Sept. 21, 1907, in Johnson township, rural Le Mars, to Paul and Louise Jans Utesch. His marriage to Cora Casler took place Feb. 16,1927, in Johnson township. The couple lived on a Johnson township farm until retiring to Le Mars in 1973. He was a member of St. John's American Lutheran church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. John's American Lutheran church in Le Mars with Rev. Thomas Lee and Rev. David Kramer officiating. Burial .will be in Le Mars Memorial cemetery under direction of the Mauer funeral home.. A prayer service will be held at 7 pun. Thursday at the funeral home.
Survivors are his wife, Cora, Le Mars; three daughters, Mrs. Donald (Joyce) Witt, Bartlesville, Okla.; Mrs. Philip (Donna) Whitaker, Piano, Tex.,; Mrs. Melvin (Lois) Johnson, rural Le Mars. A son, Edward Utesch Jr., rural Le Mars; 15 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; a brother, William Utesch, Akron and a sister, Myrtle Doering, Merrill
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother
