Margaret Ann Kroepel, 68, of Le Mars, passed away peacefully at her home Friday, Sept. 16, 2016.
Margaret Ann Kroepel was born on Aug. 2, 1948, in Le Mars, the daughter of William Wallace and Reva Phyllis (Sheetz) Brodie. She was baptized and confirmed in the Presbyterian faith. She attended Le Mars Community High School.
On March 7, 1965, Margaret and Michael McGranahan married in Le Mars. They made their home in Le Mars. Her first occupation was working for A.J. Masuen First Aid as a secretary/clerk in Le Mars.
On Sept. 3, 1972, Margaret and Russell Kroepel were married in Las Vegas, Nevada.
While living in Arizona, she worked at a print shop and taught Sunday School. They later moved to Shenandoah, where Margaret served as the administrative secretary for the Shenandoah Chamber of Commerce.
Margaret and Russell later moved to the Kroepel family farm near Le Mars and lived there many years prior to moving into Le Mars. She retired in 2005.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Todd McGranahan and his wife, Cindy of Le Mars; two grandchildren, Todd McGranahan and his wife, Karen of Le Mars, and their children, Melody Rose and Aira Delaney and Cory Dean Griffiths and his husband, Laurie of Omaha, Nebraska; a step-daughter, Katy (Kroepel) Athens and her husband, Brian of Atlanta, Georgia and their children, Ryan and Sarah; a step-son, Tom Kroepel and his wife, Kathy of Shenandoah, and their children, Sam and Kelli; a sister, Mary Aarons and her husband Joel of Chicago, Illinois; sisters-in-law, Marie Brodie of California and Nancy Brodie of Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell; and three brothers, Jack, Tom and Steve.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at the Mauer -- Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The Rev. Janis Christensen will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m., today (Monday) at the Mauer -- Johnson Funeral Home. The family will be present from 5-7 p.m. with prayer service at 7 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the funeral home prior to the funeral service on Tuesday.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland and the Alzheimer's Association.
