Terry Wachter

Terry L. Wachter, 55, of Akron, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital.

Funeral services will be Thursday, March 24 at 2:00 p.m. at the Carlsen Funeral Home-Schroeder Chapel in Akron with Reverend David Husmann officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Akron with military rites conducted by the Albert E. Hoschler American Legion Post 186 of Akron.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Stilen, Don Banta, Ron Woods, Jack Harry, Dana Briggs and Dru Jurrens. Honorary pallbearers will be Travic Stilen, Steve Gormaly, en March, Dickie Music, David Sturdevnt and Bobby Grimm.

Terry Lee Wachter was born August 18, 1949, in Red Oak, IA, the son of James and Donna (Lasley) Wachter. He recieved his education in Red Oak, Council Bluffs and Omaha schools. He enllisted in the United States Navy on January 15, 1968. He served his country during the Vietnam conflict. For his service he received the National Defense Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on January 28, 1974.

Upon returning from the service, he worked for various businesses in the Omaha area. He was united in marriage to Joyce Lunsford on June 27, 1998 in Council Bluffs. For the past six years they have made their home in Akron where Terry was employed at Iowa Lamb in Hawarden.

Terry will always be remembered for the joy and laugter that he brought to his family and friends. He loved fishing and playing cards, especially poker. But most of all, he loved his family.

Survivors include his wife Joyce of Akron; five children, Jim Wachter and his wife, Lisa of Concil Bluffs, Joe Wachter of Ireton, Terry Wachter, Jr. and his wife, Katrina of Omaha, Matthew Stilen and his wife, Christina of Elbow Lake, MN andSherrie Stilen of Council Bluffs; two adopted children, Sarah Niehus of Shenandoah, IA and Ben March of Hudson, SD; his father, James Wachter of Carter Lake, IA; a brother, Rodney Wachter and his wife, Lori of Carter Lake; two sisters, Sandy Ramsey of Carter Lake and Julie Seminara and her husband, Greg of Carter Lake; 17 grandchildren; and many other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna; and a sister, Connie Taylor.
