RESIDENT FOR 45 YEARS DIES WED. Funeral Services for August Heigner to be Held Friday Afternoon.
Heart trouble and other complications resulted in the death of August Heigner, one of the pioneer residents of Le Mars, Monday morning at 8 o’clock at his home at 517 Seventh St. S. W. deceased had been in poor health for some time, but his death comes as a blow to his relatives and friends.
August Heigner was born on March 6, 1865, in Germany, and at the time of his death was 67 years, 3 months and 9 days old.
At an early age he came to the United States and settled in Plymouth county. He was united in marriage to Agnes Marqudeson [Marquardsen] at Remsen, Iowa, and later moved to Le Mars, where he had lived for the past 45 years. He formerly was employed at the Plymouth Mill, and also worked for some years on the railway.
He leaves to mourn his loss, 4 daughters and 2 sons; Mrs. Laura Wilmoth, Omaha, Neb.; Mrs. Lena Brownmiller, Cherokee, Ia.; Mrs. Agnes Ebert, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Tena Hays, Le Mars, and Louis and Frank of Le Mars. His wife preceded him in death some years ago. He also leaves seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. from Wiltgen’s funeral parlors with Rev. Potter officiating. Burial will be made in the city cemetery with Wiltgen’s in charge. Pallbearers will be Ed Aldrich, Herman Dambrink, Barney Miller, John Tols????, John Basement, Thomas T. Thompson.
In his many years of residence in Le Mars, Mr. Heigner made many friends, who join with the family in mourning his loss. – Le Mars Globe-Post, June 16, 1932, page 1, column 7
