JOHN W. RAISH IS CALLED BY DEATH

Last Rites Are Held At Pierre, S, D,M For Former Akron Man

John W. Raish, Supreme Court clerk in South Dakota and a one time resident of Akron, died of asthma at his home in Pierre, S. D., at the age of 71 years, on Tuesday, August 23, 1948.

John W. Raish, son of Mr. and Mrs. John N. Raish, was born in Elk Point, D. T., May 25, 1877. Later he came to Akron with his parents, his father engaging in the lumber business here for many years. He grew to young manhood here and following graduation from Akron High school, he entered upon a law course at the University of South Dakota, at Vermillion. After his graduation in 1907, he practiced law at Belle Fourche, Aberdeen and deadwood, S. D. He was appointed clerk of the state Supreme Court in 1937, after serving four years as librarian for the Supreme Court, previous to which he had been a member of the state railroad commission. Mr. Raish was a quite frequent visitor to Akron over a long period of years, having farm interests west of town. He enjoyed wide acquaintance in South Dakota and was a highly esteemed citizen.

Surviving are his wife, Josephine, and two sons, Donald, of El Paso, Tex., and John, of Washington, D. C.

Funeral services were held at Pierre and interment was at Dell Rapids, S. D.

Old-time Akron friends of Mr. Raish learned of his death with much regret.
