Reka Meyer was born April 16th, 1858, at Hornsby , Macoupin county , Illinois, and died September 14 , 1911, at her home in Portland township, Plymouth county, Iowa, aged 53 years, 4 months and 28 days, of. intestinal trouble and bronchial pneumonia.

She was married February 22, 1880, to John H. Meyer at Hornsby, 111. To this union were born eleven children—seven boys and four girls. Two boys and four girls preceded her in death, all dying in early childhood. The family cam from Ohlman. 111., nine years ago an located on a farm six and a half miles northeast of Akron. Mrs. Meyer was an exemplary woman, beloved by all who knew her; a devoted wife and mother. Th e sympathy of the community goes out to these who mourn. Her husband and five sons, Fred. Henry, William, Edward and Louis.

The funeral was held Sunday in the Akron M. E. church. Interment in Riverside cemetery .

Relatives coming from a distance were her brothers, William and Edward Meyer, and her niece, Miss Christina Meyer, of Hornsby, 111., and her cousin, Mrs. Buse, of LeMars.
