Gus Wetrosky, retail store owner. dead

Gustav (Gus) Wetrosky, 64, prominent LeMars businessman, died unexpectedly Monday at Sacred Heart hospital. His home was at 104 First St. SE.

Mr. Wetrosky was co-owner of Carmen's Dress shop, womens' ready-to-wear store. The store will be closed all day Thursday in his memory.

Gustav Albert Wetrosky was born Aug. 20, 1901, in Liberty township, Plymouth county. He had farmed in Plymouth county until 1941 when he moved to LeMars. His parents were the late Frank and Bertha (Schultz) Wetrosky. His marriage to Clara Herzberg took place Jan. 6, 1926 in Johnson township near Merrill.

Funeral will be conducted at St. John American Lutheran church at 2 p.in. Thursday, Rev. L . Belk and Rev. Robert Floy will officiate and burial will be in LeMars Memorial cemetery. There will be a prayer service at the Mauer funeral chapel at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Survivors are his wife, Clara; a daughter, Mrs. Wendell (Carmen) Gronemeyer, rural LeMars; four grandchildren; four brothers, Arthur of Akron; Elmer of Beresford; Walter of Merrill and Frank Jr. of Cherokee, and two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Villa) Utesch, LeMars, and Mrs. Myron (Evelyn) Taylor, Sioux City.

Mr. Wetrosky was a member of St. John American Lutheran church and the Brotherhood and LeMars Chamber of Commerce. He was active in community affairs.
