Mrs. Wayne (Virginia) Horton, 60, Akron died Sunday (Sept. 20, 1987) in Marian Health Center, Sioux City, of injuries received in a one-vehicle accident south of Akron.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Patrick's Catholic church in Akron. The Rev. Timothy Schott officiated. Organist was Mrs. Phil Bernard. Burial was in Riverside cemetery under direction of the Schroeder funeral home. A prayer service was held Tuesday evening in the funeral home.

Pall bearers were Paul Kelly, Ed Uhl, Bob Buys, Rod Waterman, Robert Friemark and Troy Seaton.

Mrs. Horton. the former Virginia Lucille Bemiss. was born April 3, 1927 to Leroy and Mary Bemiss at Hawarden. She was raised in Hawarden and graduated from the Hawarden high school. She married Wayne Horton, June 22, 1946 in Hawarden. The couple farmed in the Akron area, all their married life. Mrs. Horton was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic church in Akron.

Survivors include her. husband, Wayne of Akron; a son, Steve of Sioux City; six daughters, Mrs. Paul (Sally) Kelly of Oyens, Mrs. Rod (Sue) Waterman of Hawarden, Mrs. Ed (Sharon) Uhl and Mrs. Bob (Shelly) Buys, both of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Robert (Sandy) Freimark of Sioux City, and Mrs. Troy (Sona) Seaton of Warrensburg, Mo.; a sister, Mrs. Ken (Marge) Havens of Boone; a brother, James "Bud" Bemiss of Sacramento, Calif., and 12 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Leroy and Mary Bemiss and one brother, William Bemiss.
