Fred Carl Henry Oloff, 87, one of Craig’s oldest residents, passed away on October 29 1963 at Hawarden Hospital where he had been a patient for one week. Mr. Oloff was born August 15, 1876 in Mac Hunk, Penn. and at the age of six months went to Cedar Rapids.
When eight years of age he came to Plymouth county where he has since lived. He was a retired hardware merchant.
His marriage to Greta Popken took place April 29, 1903. They were married at Grant township church. His parents were the late Lewis Oloff and Minnie Rickert Oloff.
Funeral rites will be conducted by Mauer funeral home at St. John's Lutheran church in Craig, at 2 p.m. Friday, November 1. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran cemetery, Craig. Rev. Erwin B. Schemmel will officiate at last rites.
Survivors include his children, Mrs. Emil R. Schuette (Emma) of Struble; E. F. Oloff of Spencer and seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, a son, Elmer, a brother, Louis, two sisters Mrs. Minnie Riter and Mrs. Clara Kallsen. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church; Lutheran Brotherhood; and was the last active charter member of the St John’s Lutheran church, Craig.
