Funeral Service Of Minnie Ahrens Held Monday
A Resident Of Kingsley For Fifty-seven Years
Funeral services were held here last Monday afternoon at 2:30, for Miss Minnie Ahrens, 68, a resident of Kingsley for more than fifty years, who passed away last Saturday afternoon after an illness of several months.
Miss Ahrens was born July 4, 1872, in Kendall county, Illinois. The family moved to Dexter, Iowa, in 1879 and to Kingsley in 1863, where she has since resided.
Minnie Caroline Ahrens, was the daughter of Henry and Amelia Ahrens. She was one of nine children, and was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. She never married, and since the death of her parents, lived with her brother August, in the old home in Kingsley.
She suffered a stroke on Easter morning, and gradually weakened until she was called to her reward Friday morning, Sept. 21st. Quiet, unassuming, home living, she lived happily among her relatives and a circle of friends.
Surviving to mourn her decease are one brother, August, of Kingsley, and four sisters, Mrs. Louise Case, of Kingsley; Mrs. Emma Riordan, of Correctionville, Mrs. Anna Hempel, of Pains, Kansas, and Mrs. Carrie Maurer, of Kimball, S. D.
Funeral services were conducted from the Derby-Dickinson Funeral Home at 2:30 Monday, with Rev. L. T. Proctor, pastor of the Congregational church officiating. Interment was in the Kingsley Cemetery.
