Margaret B. Van Voorst
Margaret B. Van Voorst, 85, of Merrill, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at her home in Merrill.
The former Margaret B. Murray was born March 26, 1915, on a farm near Kinglsey, the daughter of Daniel and Harriet (Ingels) Murray. She was a native and lifelong resident of Plymouth County. Margaret attended country school at Kingsley.
She married Herman Bauler on March 28, 1933. Herman died feb. 22, 1947. On Nov. 29, 1958, she married Richard Van Voorst. He died on Oct. 7, 1977.
Mrs. Van Voorst was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Merrill, and the Catholic Daughters of America, Court Santa Maria 179 in Le Mars.
Survivors include three daughters: Margaret Jean Covert of Parker, S. D., Zelda Sherlock and her husband, Ray, of Merrill, and Barbara Bornholtz of Buffalo, Wyo.; two sons: John "Jack" Bauler of Council Bluffs, and Charles Bauler and his wife, Sandy, of Rock Valley; a stepdaughter Rosemary Sams of Omaha, Neb. 37 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; two brothers-in-law: Francis Bauler and his wife, Florence, of Kinglsey, and Delbert Hanson of Miles City, Mont.; and two sisters-in-law: Darlene Van Voorst and Arlene Van Voorst, both of Le Mars.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Herman Bauler and Richard Van Voorst; a son, Harry Bauler; two ste-sons, Alex and Alfred Van Voorst; two grandchildren, David Sams and Diane Sherlock; a great-granddaughter; two sons-in-law, Jerry Covert and Leonard Black; four sisters, Evelyn Borrell, Helen Sloss, Florence Hanson, and Virginia Hanson; and two brothers, Edward and Cal Murray.
Funeral services wil be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Assumption Cathlic Church in Merrill with the Rev. Robert J. Waters presiding. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Remsen. Friends may call anytime after 3 p.m. Sunday at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars. A Catholic Daughters rosary will be held at 4 p.m. and the Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Mike Covert, Melvin Covert, John Bauler, Jr., Charles Bauler, Jr., Steve Sherlock, and Kirk Sherlock. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Sherlock, Gene Sherlock, Roger Sherlock, Terry Covert, Jim covert, Randy Covert, Blaine Marienau, and Brian Marienau.
