Mrs. Herman Andresen

Mrs. Herman (Hilda) Andresen, 86, Akron, died Saturday (Dec. 15, 1984) in the Akron nursing home after a long illness.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Trinity Lutheran church in Akron. The Rev. Marvin Mueller officiated. Vocalists were Vernon and Leanna Jurgensen, and organist was Pam Richards. Burial was in Riverside cemetery under the direction of the Schroeder funeral home.

Pallbearers were Fred Ludwigs, Donald Schmidt, Gene Erks, LuVois Schmidt, Virgil Frerichs and Norman Heeren.

Mrs. Andresen, the former Hilda Wilhelmine Margaretha Schmidt, was born June 16, 1898, in Athens, Ill., to John F. and Mathilda Wurl Schmidt. She moved with her parents at the age of nine months to Portland township, Plymouth county, Iowa.

She married Herman Andresen Feb. 16, 1922, near Akron. They farmed their entire life in Portland township, rural Akron, until retiring to Akron in 1948. Mr. Andresen died June 30, 1969. Mrs. Andresen was a member of Trinity Lutheran church in Akron.

Survivors include two sons, Raymond of Akron and Delmer of Carrollton, Tex.; two brothers, John of Hawarden and Elmer of Akron; two sisters, Mrs. John (Tillie) Erks and Mrs. Ella Frerichs, both of Akron; four granddaughters, Sandra Johnson, Albany, Minn.; Marily Renken, Forest City, Iowa; Jane Olorundami, Sioux City, and Mary Ratzsch of Akron; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, William, two sister, Mina Rounds, and Emma Molzen; two half-sisters, Tena Kallsen, and Hannah Wubben, and one granddaughter, Barbara Andresen.
