Lena Chamberlain
Lena Andresen Chamberlain, 79, of Le Mars and formerly of Akron, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1993, at the Brentwood Good Samaritan Home in Le Mars after a long illness.
Services were held Saturday, Aug. 21, 1993, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron with Rev. David Kramer officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Akron under the direction of Schroeder Funeral home.
Julie Curry sang "Beyond the Sunset," and "My Shepherd will Supply My Need." The congregation sang "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." Marietta Nielsen was the organist.
Honorary pall bearers were Brian Nelson, Tim Andresen, Lisa Herbison, Curtis Nelson, Vicky Dimmick and Judy Perea. Active pall bearers were Ronald Huls, Gene Huls, Robert Huls, Patrick O''Connor, Richard Vanderkooi, David Vanderkooi.
Mr. Chamberlain was born April 29, 1914, in Akron, the daughter of John and Meta (Onnen) Huls. She grew up in the Akron area. She was baptized May 27, 1914, and confirmed June 15, 1930, both at Immanuel Lutheran church in Akron. She grew up in the Akron area. She married Fred E. Andresen Oct. 11, 1933, in Akron. He died May 25, 1982. She married Cluett Chamberlain Oct. 5, 1985, in Akron. He died April 7, 1992, and she entered the nursing home in November 1992. Mrs. Chamberlain was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron.
Survivors include one daughter, Beverly and her husband Jerry Nelson and grandsons Brian and Curtis all of Le Mars; four other grandchildren, the children of her late son Eli; Vicky Dimmick, Lisa Herbison, and Judy Perea, all of Phoenix, Ariz., and Tim Andresen of Jerome, Idaho; 11 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Donna Hegi of Idaho; two brother, William of Aberdeen, Idaho, and Marvin of Moorhead, Minn.; a half-brother, Ray Huls of Rock Valley; and two half sisters, Renna Vanderkooi of Hinton and Mrs. Don (Pear) Johnson of Rock Valley.
She was preceded in death by a son, Eli; three brothers, Hank, Chris, and Johnny Huls; and one sister, Elizabeth O'Connor.
