MRS. ANNA DEGEN CALLED BY DEATH SUNDAY EVENING

Rites On Wednesday For An Esteemed Akron Resident

Mrs. Anna Marie (William) Degen, an early-day and esteemed resident of northwest Plymouth County, passed away Sunday night at the Akron Hospital, after an extended period of failing health, aged 88 years, 8 months, and 3 days.

Anna Marie Vanderham was born February 20, 1878, at Monticello, Iowa, and came with her parents to Plymouth County at an early age. She was united in marriage with William Degen on August 29, 1924, and they farmed near here many years. Mr. degen preceded her in death in 1911 and she had since resided in Akron, being a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church here. She was held in high regard by many friends for her fine qualities.

Survivors include one daughter, Marie, of Akron; five grand-children and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Wednesday afternoon in Trinity Lutheran Church, Rev. Harris Hostager officiating. There was congregational singing. Mrs. Dennis Wilken was organist. Casket bearers were: John Mollhoff, Bill Mollhoff, Max Thorson, Orin Harris, Evan Harris and Art Rosenbaum, honorary, and Ed McGregor, Jerome McGregor, William Hill, Bradley Hill, Norman Degen, and John Degen active. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.
