Mary W. Brownmiller

Mary Wilhelmina Brownmiller, 93, Akron, died Monday (Sept. 5, 1988) in the Akron City Convalescent Care Center after a long illness.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Trinity Lutheran church in Akron. The Rev. Marvin Mueller, Sioux City, officiated. Carol Harris, soloist, sang "In The Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross", accompanied by Pam richards, organist. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery under direction of the Schroeder funeral home in Akron.

Pallbearers were Bob Mollhoff, Glen Milbrodt, Arval Jurgensen, Ray Andresen, Lowell Hartmann and Norman Degen.

Mrs. Brownmiller, the former Mary Wilhelmina Mollhoff, was born May 18, 1895 to William and Katherine Vanderham Mollhoff in Akron, Iowa. She married John Brownmiller June 22, 1920, in Sioux Falls, S. D. They farmed in South Dakota for 10 years. Mr. Brownmiller died in 1930. She moved to Akron in 1931. Mrs. Brownmiller was employed as a cook for three years at the Akron hospital and cooked for 13 years at the Methodist hospital in Sioux City.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran church in Akron, where she was active. She was also a member of Hoschler American Legion post 186 auxiliary in Akron.

Survivors include a sister-in-law Irma Mollhoff of Hawarden and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
