Robert Grier

ANTHON — Robert Grier, 101, of Anthon, died Tuesday; Feb. 7, 1995, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Correctionville.

Mr. Grier was born March 28, 1893, in Kingsley, the son of Thomas and Viola (Browning) Grier. He served in World War I. On Jan. 16, 1929, he married Opal Malcom in Sioux City.

The couple farmed in the Kingsley area until 1942, when they moved to a farm near Anthon. In September 1974, they retired and moved into Anthon. He entered the nursing home in 1981. Mrs. Grier died July 30,1989.

Mr. Grier was a member of the United Methodist Church, McNiff Post 389, American Legion, and the Sioux City Consistory. He had been a member of Cerulean Lodge 550 AF & AM for more than 50 years.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son infancy and six sisters.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Walter-Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon with the Rev. Dee Ann Klapp officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the funeral home.
