There was mention in these columns last week of the death of Mrs. T. L. Burnight at her home at Okoboji, Iowa, after a brief illness following a heart attack at 4:00 a.m. Monday, August 14, 1950.

Iva Ervin was born May 14, 1880, in Union county, South Dakota, north of Richland, daughter of Herbert A. and Alice Ervin, pioneer residents of the Richland vicinity. She attended school in Richland and later took musical trainging at the University of South Dakota, Vermillion. On June 29, 1907, she was united in marriage with T. L. Burnight in Akron. She spent the major part of her life here, but for the past ten years had a permanent home on Des Moines Beach, West Okoboji Lake.

In past years Mrs. Burnight taught vocal music, several of her pupils gaining real recognition. She was a fine vocalist in her own right, and at one tme was the leader of the Catholic Choir here, and was also a member of the Choral Club at Pasadena, Calif., and sang in a number of choirs. She was a charter member of the Home Cuture Club, of Akron, and a lifetime member of the Ladies' Auxiliary of Hoschler Post, No. 186, American Legion. Her charming personality and womanly attributes won for her innumerable friends, by whom she will be sincerely missed.

Left to mourn her departure are her husband; two sons, J. C. Kennedy, of this city (son by a former marriage), and T. Robert Burnight, of Washington, D. D.; four grandchildren and a number of cousins.
